How Geomancy works

Geomancy is based on two main principals.Casting and making of lines. They can be drawn on a sheet of paper or simply on sand and calculated in a special way. In both above cases one gets an answer to his question. Now, Geomancy teaches us a very easy way how to learn draw those lines. However, prediction is always a big challenge. Many Geomancy experts went wrong in their predictions. One thing is sure, that the Geomancy is a way to find truth. What makes us believe that Geomancy is true? It may seem difficult to answer this question. Instead, it is very easy. Only a true science can survive such a long period of time. Geomancy does.

Why predicting is so difficult in Geomancy? There should be some explanation for it too. There is an answer for that: ancient people were very wise. They used to always hide all clues from those who were eager to understand their knowledge. That is how Geomancy is made. Casting that may seem easy is in reality the most difficult part in Geomancy. Ancient people were using one very unique technique called Time knowledge. Its modern name is Time Astrology. In Time Astrology every weekday belongs to a star and every hour of the daytime belongs to a star too. Finally, the hour is divided into 15 different small periods of time that also belong to a star. Eventually we are getting a window of three to five minutes. Casting is done within this window to get a correct answer in Geomancy. For example, you start drawing lines when the minute star was Mars. But when you finished it, the minute star was Sun and as a result you got a wrong answer.

I always calculate time first and only then draw the lines. So during the past 30 years of my Geomancy experience I could always get a correct answer using Geomancy principals. Information technologies and wide computer usage has resolved many technical problems and it enabled drawing and calculating lines in a fraction of second. Geomancy is a mother of Astrology. Modern Astrology still relies on Geomancy. Astrology houses actually came from Geomancy. Most Astrological symbols also belong to Geomancy. Geomancy is a very old knowledge, much older than the Astrology.

According to legend, Geomancy belongs to the Prophet Daniel. Some Geomancy principals are laid out in a Book that Prophet Daniel was using for his predictions. Then Geomancy went to Iran.

In India, there are still many books on Geomancy that eventually came from Iran.One Geomancy book that belongs to our family is significantly different from the others. Introduction to Astrology

Greetings!

My name is Michael Erlewine and I will be your guide through this course on astrology. As for my qualifications, I have been studying astrology for over 40 years, and during that time have worked as a teacher, programmer, author and counselor. You can read about my background elsewhere in this course, but right now let’s get down to it.

Astrology is ancient, probably as old as when people first measured time. It is present in some form in all countries and cultures, and always has been. In fact, the majority of the world’s population uses astrology at the day-to-day level, and not just for entertainment, as we do here in the West. Before we begin our study of astrology, it might be important to clear away two popular misconceptions about astrology.

What is Vedic Astrology?

Vedic Astrology refers to Indian or Hindu astrology, a system that originated in ancient India, and was documented by sages in the Vedic scriptures. Also known as "Jyotish" -- the science of light, Vedic astrology deals with astral light patterns that are thought to determine our destiny.

What is Astrology?
Astrology is the science of the effects of planetary movements on our lives. Astrology is based on astronomy, and astrologers need to know the correct positions of the planets at any given time, as well as the correct positions of the zodiacal fixed star signs in relation to any place on earth at any given time. Once the correct positions of the signs and planets are known, astrologers can construct charts representing these positions. And using his knowledge, the astrologer can study the charts and can make a wide range of conclusions about the moment the chart was cast for. Primarily, astrology is used to understand one's self, and our karma for this life.

Basic Principle
The basic premise of this astrology is that all things are linked. Your karma or fortune is determined by a predestined cosmic design. You are a soul incarnating in a body at a very specific time and place, and your life is a reflection of the greater whole into which you are born just as flowers bloom at certain times, say during spring time, when all conditions are perfectly congenial. So is the case with our births on this palnet.

What are Charts?
In Jyotish, the main item is your chart. It's a map of the planets in the signs of the zodiac. Charts are cast based on an exact moment at an exact place on earth. Therefore, the moment you were born and the place you were born has a chart, and that is your "birth chart" or "natal chart".

By reading the chart of the heavens for the time and place of your birth, claim astrologers, they can know much about you. The positions of the planets in the real star-based zodiac are taken and your "dashas" (predictive timeline) are arranged. Your Vedic chart will most likely reflect your real life and your dashas are probably operating the way they should. The Vedic astrologer looks at these planets, signs and house placements in your chart and can "see" your personality, as well as life events and possibilities - both the good and the bad times in your life. The dashas are then used to determine "when" the events will unfold in the life.

Its Predictive Magic
Dashas give a greater predictive accuracy to Vedic astrology than Western astrology. These "planetary ruling periods," which are unique to this system, give Vedic astrologers a tool for quite accurately predicting the trends, changes and events in your life with amazing precision. Therefore, Vedic astrologers are less limited to talking about your general overall self and can get more deeply into what's going to happen in your life.

How is it Different from Western Astrology?
Vedic astrology differs from Western or Tropical astrology mainly in that it uses the fixed zodiac as opposed to the moving zodiac. Because of the gradual tilting of the earth in space on its axis, the zodiac, if you calculate it from the sun's relationship to the earth, appears to be moving at the rate of a little less than 1/60th of a degree per year. Currently, the relative or movable zodiac is off or out of alignment with the fixed or real star-based zodiac by roughly 23 degrees, which is almost one whole sign of the zodiac. Because the two systems are skewed from each other by nearly one whole sign, most people's "Sun Sign", that which you can get from the newspaper each day, is usually one sign back when the chart is refigured using Vedic astrology. So, the first surprise of using the Vedic system is that you are no longer the Sun Sign you always thought you were. However, if you were born in the last 5 days or so of the Western sign month, then you will probably still be the same sign in the Vedic system.

Personal Experience
Vedic Astrology is one of the most interesting artifacts of intelligent life on earth. I mean, it's one of the greatest things we can share with each other. It's like understanding how the whole darn big picture is swirling in unison with the dance of life. What I'm saying is, "This system really works!" It's amazing! No wonder it comes from the books of the Vedic era. I've personally found no greater source of profound knowledge than Vedic literature.

There are as many definitions of astrology as there are astrologers out there. Here's an evolving collection from those in the field.

Nick Campion, from The Ultimate Astrologer: Astrology is the word of the stars - from the Greek astra (star) and logos (word). It is the study by which we read significance for our lives into the movements of the stars and planets.

Jessica Murray, from Soul-Sick Nation: The interplay of various planetary cycles has been found to have the qualities of a clock: an astoundingly intricate, mysteriously precise clock. Astrology has organized the workings of this clock into symbolic patterns, from which we can infer meanings about "what time it is."

Kevin Burk, from Understanding the Birth Chart: Astrology is the study of cycles. By observing the cyclical movements of the planets, we are able to gain a greater understanding of the cycles and patterns in our own lives.

Cafe Astrology: Astrology is, put simply, the study of the correlation between the astronomical positions of the planets and events on earth.

Musawa of Mother Tongue Ink: Astrology measures the cycles by relating the Sun, Moon and all other planets in our universe through the star signs (the zodiac), helping us to tell time in the larger cycles of the universe.

Fred Gettings, from The Arkana Dictionary of Astrology: The study of the relationship between the macrocosm and the microcosm, which (in materialistic terms) is often defined as the study of the influence of the celestial bodies on the Earth and its inhabitants.

Astrodienst: Astrology sees mankind as being not only influenced by hereditary factors and the environment, but also by the state of our solar system at the moment of birth

Adrian Ross Duncan, from Astrology; Transformation and Empowerment: The basic principle of astrology is that the smallest thing in the universe is subject to the same process as the largest. The same rules apply for both, and indeed an action in one sphere will reflect an action in the other. Astrology is unique in that it applies rules of correspondence between time and space, linking them to human character and history.

Dane Rudhyar, on astrology: ...The first known attempt to discover a consistent and dependable order in existence produced the earliest and most basic forms of what is today called astrology. As such, astrology can truly be said to be the "mother of all sciences" and the original core of all culture and religions.

What is Astrology?

The stars and planets have always inspired a sense of wonder. Many cultures look skyward and see the face of the divine there. There's a cosmic dance on the grand scale, and one on the intimate scale, going on for each of us. Astrology is the study of patterns and relationships -- of planets in motion, our birth chart, synastry with others, the make-up of elements -- and using that knowledge as a tool to find meaning.

It falls more in the category of metaphysics, the study of that which is beyond the physical. It's similar to other fields that are founded on ancient theories of energy patterns, like feng shui, acupuncture and yoga. Astrology at high levels is a mastery of its particular science and the intuitive arts. As the earliest known ordering of existence, long before recorded history, it's been called the "Mother of all Sciences.
